do i have to go inside my et folder to do this, cuz i just went to the link above and ran the file and stuff but i still got kicked afterwards. i never had this problem b4 so im not clear on what to do.could sumone please help me!...ok...i did what it told me to"copy the pb folder from this file to the games installation directory" i still got kicked...it told me to reinstall pb, so i guess ill go and figure that out now.wish me luck!

First things first. What OS are you using? Were you logged on as administrator when you copied the PB files to your pb directory or used the utility above? Never used it BTW, I prefer to do this kind of thing manually by copying the pb files over. Are the PB services (PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe) running when you get kicked? Have you tried to delete your pb directory and only then copy the files from the pack on the [>NF<] site? This won't mess your XP up, XP is associated with the etkey file in etmain. Are you using any firewalls that might be blocking the services? Is the port 27960 open in your router if you use one?

P.S.: if you're using the 8th Abomination I'm not helping you out.

Then go to the desktop while the game is running, press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up the Task Manager and check.

i did check and they are running...i guess my only option now is to reinstall ET i guess

SweetLeaf, do me a favor and don't think or guess anything. As the vast majority of the populace, you were not born to think (specially being a vag), so I'll do the thinking for you. I'm researching a solution right now, so just stand by.

It's been a while since I've reinstalled ET because ET doesn't really need to be installed - you can just copy it's whole directory structure over to somewhere else and run it from there - and I use XP 64, hate 7Garbage and absolute abhor the 8th abomination. So I ran 7Garbage from an install I have in a VMWare virtual machine, installed ET + patch1 + patch2, deleted the pb directory and copied the directory with the updater files to the new installation.

When I tried to connect to the server, the "you need to enable PunkBuster" window popped up, but PB wouldn't be enabled no matter how many times I clicked the button to enable it. I then reinstalled the whole game (ET + patch1 + patch2), and this time I didn't delete the pb directory, just copied the directory with the updater files over it, and this worked just fine and PB was updated.

I'm pretty sure that when I last installed the game on XP I deleted the pb directory, copied the PB directory with the updater files to the installation directory and it had no issues updating. But then again, XP is XP (= great OS), 7 is garbage and 8 is an abomination.

So try reinstalling the game (ET + patch1 + patch2) - this shouldn't affect your game settings and won't delete your etkey file - and then copy the pb directory with the updater files over the existing pb directory without deleting it first.

Now a little message to all the filhos da puta who use 7Garbage:

WHY COULND'T ANYONE ELSE COME HELP US OUT HERE ???

so after reading Pedro's post i got curious and just logged on to server...it was empty and my ping stayed under 100. i didnt get kicked so im assuming my problem was with my internet. Now, the real test will be when i go on later when all you nice folks are on and see if everything goes as it did for me just now!I would like to thank our sacred empire for taking the time to help a vag such as myself with his all knowing intelligence.
