Is Messi Cheating?

#1

Post by TommyFranks**** »

Messi has been an incredibly 'amazing' player on NF. So much so that he stands out beyond. Having played since the beginning of RTCW, I've played on many servers and seen many, many great players. I have a suspicion that something's up with Messi. Is it possibly just a great Ping? Is it possibly just a super optimized config with all appropriate binds? Or is there something more? Could he really be 100% better than most to all of the players most of the time? What's up with that?

When he's killing enemies, he is literally running around in circles. Sometimes his bullets go through brick/stone walls. He takes many bullets, some to the head and always seems to have enough HP to hang on. Is this just a coincidence or is Messi cheating? I know he prefers to be a medic most of the time, so that definitely helps in keeping a player alive.

Is there anyway to find out if a player is cheating? Punk Buster is not 100% reliable. Any input is appreciated.

I've spec'd him before and I didn't see anything suspicious. He has good headshot aim and tends to be a very "cautious" player (i.e., he doesn't stupidly run around every corner with guns ablaze like I do), and I think that's why he manages to live longer and still take out many players. He also plays medic a lot which doesn't hurt if you want a high k/d ratio.

LOL...Whats wrong...does he kill you a lot???

I have only been on this server a short time and all the times I played against him, I would say he is not.....He does as Das Boot states...He is not a Rambo medic when he plays that class....plays smart...and I bet he has tweaked his config real nice too....But don't you all, I get my fare share in with him ...

This part serves as a good example of evidence that he is not and that you don't understand one or two things about cheating (which is a good thing ;)). A great shooter will be able to move around a lot while keeping his aim perfectly centered. No cheat can make bullets go through walls, that's an impression caused by the sum of lags (yours and your opponent's) that the server's anti-lag system is trying to synchronize. Also, no cheat can make you stronger or less vulnerable to hits, that's a result of a player moving well even when being shot at and of playing as a medic.

If I'm sure he - or anybody else - is not cheating? No. I wouldn't put my hand in the fire for anyone but me. But until I have hard evidence, in the form of a cheat detection, or unless it's a very obvious case, like being able to clearly notice a player's aim jumping directly from one head to another (check out some aimbotting videos on the net to see what it looks like), everyone is innocent.

It should also be taken into account that it's easy to grow used to playing against beginners and less skilled players (and even bots), in a way that makes it feel surprisingly strange when someone with a much higher skill level shows up.

Finally, I don't want to see this kind of suspicious talk again about someone's possible cheating on the forums or on the server itself without the evidence to back it up.

I agree with Pedro. Suspicions of cheating shouldn't be posted on the forum. Some players might be flattered by such accusations (I know I am!), but others will just get pissed off. To be honest, I don't like it when someone posts a public message to me on the server claiming that another player is cheating. Please send suspicions by private message. This is the console command for pm:

Fair enough to all of your answers, there have been a few cheaters caught on this server, just sayin'...when the kill to death ratio is constantly that high, one has to wonder.

So Money, please delete this thread.

Yes, that's what you should do. And STFU!

No need for that, it was actually good that you created this topic since many players suspect messi (and others) cheat, and it gave me an opportunity to clear up a few points on how that's dealed with.

Money couldn't delete the thread anyway because he's not a global moderator (only the refs are at this moment, although this system might change in the future), he moderates only his own forum (Nut Tribe Warriors), and anyway, he should STFU and suck messi as he suggested himself.
