WOW! Excellent Post Speed Demon - Thanks for explaining some of the aspects of cheating, it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. What about bullets* going through stone walls? is that just lag? There are some great players on NF and though I want to give them credit for being so damned good, until it is proven, there are still too many opportunists out there. I think I'll go download the NF Super Cheat Pack right now, thanks for the inspiration SD.

ET:The Truth about Cheating in ET
Re: ET:The Truth about Cheating in ET
I don't know if the game's 2.60 patch addressed this issue (there was actually only one real update patch for ET, version 2.60, with version 2.60b bringing just a few fixes for server vulnerabilities), and I even disagree with the author of the above text about it being a "bug". My understanding is that this is due to the sum of the latency (lag) between the players and the server, causing the bullets tracers to be drawn later than they should. I also disagree that ETPro "fixed" it - I have seen it in ETPro too, and it should be noted that ETPro's antilag system is much less advanced than Jaymod's or N!tmod's. ETPro was never meant to be used with high latency connections. Just spec players with high pings playing on an ETPro server and you'll notice, for example, that when a player hits a headshot, the spectator will see his aim a little to the side and not exactly on the headshot spot. Lots of people on ETPro servers used to call players cheaters because of this.TommyFranks**** wrote:* Tracer Bugs - You answered my question about bullets going thru walls, I notice it all the time on NF. These texts SpeedDemon is reproducing on the forums are interesting but most are quite old, so a lot of what they say should be taken with a pinch of salt. Shrub for example was one of the first ET mods and died many years ago, and it seems that mods like Jaymod and NoQuarter didn't even exist when this text was written:
