First i was having problems with my player name being remembered now i can't connect at all. I copied the punkbuster file from the website over as an attempt to fix but no change. XP system, nvidia 570.

This is not PB related. Most of the the time disconnections with the "Server disconnected for unknown reason" message are network related. Check if the server's port (= ET's default port, 27960) is open in your router and firewall and that you haven't installed any useless anti-virus that might be blocking it.

About the config issues, you've probably been to some other server which fucked up your install. Delete all .pk3 files from jaymod and look for .pk3 files with strange names in etmain and delete them too. Also delete all files in jaymod/profiles and etmain/profiles. If that doesn't fix it, reinstall the game.

Donating usually fixes all these problems.

I saw you trying to connect a few times today and the message "Your client is providing invalid information" was shown for everyone on the server each time. Are you using a modified version of ET.EXE?

Not that I'm aware of, i did an overwrite install of ET and did all the patches which included new et.exe, also turned off firewall on both my puter and the router. Something must be fucked elswhere, how do i back up my et key so i don't lose my precious xp?

About backing up the etkey file, the forums search and the countless search engines are your friends:

The solution ended up being to delete the entire Jaymod folder. I lost my username but not my XP, I guess heading to F|A i caught some disease even though i showered afterwards.
